UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — When it’s time to move out of your University Park residence, don’t worry about loading up your car with things you don’t want or need. Lighten your load by donating your unwanted items to Trash to Treasure.

The annual Trash to Treasure sale, held at Beaver Stadium, takes students’ donations of clothing, furniture, electronics and more and re-sells them to benefit the community. Last year, the sale raised more than $47,000 for the Centre County United Way and its partner agencies.

Your donations are good for the Earth, too. Trash to Treasure diverts an average of 68 tons per year from the landfill.

Students can donate items in good condition from April 24 to May 8. Items to donate include clothing, household items, appliances, bedding, furniture, electronics and non-perishable foods. All clean and working items are accepted.

Look for posters that indicate drop-off locations, or ask your resident assistant.

Drop-off locations in your residence hall or apartment complex include vending machine rooms, basements, lobbies, rec rooms, study and TV lounges, community centers, Fisher hallway, and Schreyer Honors College entrance (right side of steps).

Place all donated items in a blue Trash to Treasure bag. You can find bags in recycling rooms or from your housekeeper.

The Trash to Treasure sale will be held on June 4.
