UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State faculty, staff and students now have online access to two new databases through the University Libraries website — the Digital Library of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International and CountryData Online.

SAE’s database offers more than 200,000 full-text technical papers and other content from 1998 to the present. Content covers the design, manufacture and total-life cycle technology for the automotive, aerospace, off-highway, truck and bus, fuels and lubricants, and other related mobility industries. Much of it previously was only available through the University Libraries on microfiche.

CountryData Online, produced by the company that produces the Political Risk Yearbook, offers political, economic, financial and social data more than 140 countries, in most cases back to 1984. CountryData also is the only source for current and historical risk ratings for both the International Country Risk Guide and Political Risk Services rating systems conducted by PRS Group.

Access to these databases, which have been licensed for the nonprofit educational use of Penn State faculty, staff and students, are governed by copyright law and individual license agreements and require login via WebAccess using a Penn State account. The SAE Digital Library is available at http://alias.libraries.psu.edu/ERESOURCES/PSU01933, and CountryData Online can be found at http://alias.libraries.psu.edu/ERESOURCES/PSU01936.

The University Libraries provides access to 763 databases, including nearly two dozen applicable to engineering-related fields. A searchable A-to-Z list of searchable database titles is at https://www.libraries.psu.edu/psul/databases.html.
