Health insurance benefits include wellness program

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Employees enrolled in Penn State’s health insurance program now have access to numerous wellness benefits through Highmark’s Blue365 program. The program, available to Highmark members of participating Blue Cross and Blue Shield organizations, offers discounts to individuals who register for the free program.

Blue365 gives Penn State employees access to discounts on items related to fitness, personal care, healthy eating, financial health, personal lifestyle and wellness. Employees can take advantage of programs such as Healthways Fitness Your Way, which gives individuals access to more than 9,000 gyms and fitness centers nationwide for one monthly fee of $25. Individuals also may purchase fitness gear such as activity trackers and heart rate monitors at discounted prices. Other benefits include discounts on Lasik eye surgery and contact lenses, hearing aids, pet insurance, magazine subscriptions, cooking classes and healthy eating programs, and much more.

“The Blue365 program is an added benefit for those enrolled in the University’s health care plan,” said Megan Houser, human resources consultant. “There’s no fee to sign up and employees have access to a variety of goods and services.”
