Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence to offer workshop on grant funding

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence will present a free workshop titled, “Getting Started on Getting the Grant,” from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, via Adobe Connect (https://meeting.psu.edu/spring2016workshops/). The workshop will be repeated from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28.

From crafting a concept paper to finding a potential funder, this workshop will cover the basics of getting started in the sometimes-confusing world of external grant seeking. Presented by Penn State Harrisburg Associate Dean of Research and Outreach Susannah Gal, a former National Science Foundation program officer, and Lisa Wiedemer, University College Manager of Grant Relations, the hourlong workshop will help participants focus their thinking related to their planned research activities. It will also offer tips for discovering external funding sources and how to make the initial approach to program officers, as well as provide other how-tos of initial proposal preparation.

This workshop will be presented via Adobe Connect at https://meeting.psu.edu/spring2016workshops/.
