Clinical Pastoral Education Center at Penn State Hershey receives grant

The Clinical Pastoral Education Center at Penn State Hershey Medical Center was one of four such centers in the nation to receive an Innovation Program Award from the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education Foundation. The grant will help fund the research project “Using My-Gift-of-Grace Game to Support Advance Care-Planning Conversation Education for CPE Participants.”

“In this project, a game about end of life decision-making, called My Gift of Grace, will be studied to see if it allays clinical pastoral education students’ anxiety about engaging advance life-care planning conversations with patients and loved ones,” said the Rev. Elizabeth Martin, director of pastoral services. She will partner with Dr. Lauren Van Scoy, assistant professor of medicine, who is researching use of the game in other areas. The results of this research will be submitted for publication.
