Penn State Lehigh Valley women's basketball team defeats Mont Alto

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Five players scored in double digits to help propel the Penn State Lehigh Valley women's basketball team past Penn State Mont Alto, 99-55, on Tuesday, Jan. 12, in Mont Alto. With the win, Lehigh Valley improves to 7-3 overall and 4-0 in Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) play.

Lehigh Valley was paced by sophomore Hannah Bankes, who had a game-high 23 points on 5-of-14 shooting from 3-point range. Sophomore Andrea Watkins recorded 19 points, seven assists and five steals. Junior Ashley Gordon contributed 17 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Junior Nikita Brady recorded 17 points and four assists in her season debut for Lehigh Valley. Sophomore Kereece Seuren chipped in with 12 points and seven rebounds. 

The first quarter saw five lead changes until Lehigh Valley went on a run to end the quarter leading 23-12. Lehigh Valley would not look back the rest of the half, leading 48-29 at intermission. Mont Alto cut the lead to 13 in the third quarter but Lehigh Valley would quiet that run, shooting 66 percent from behind the 3-point line. Mont Alto was paced by Alexis Small with 12 points.

The team's next game is at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, against Penn State Brandywine at Cedar Crest College in Allentown. Admission is free for all home games.
