Penn State York to offer Personal Care Home Administrators training

YORK, Pa. — Penn State York will offer the 100-hour required training program for Personal Care Home Administrators (PCHAs) beginning March 4. The entire 100 hours of training is offered in a 19-session format, Fridays and Saturdays, from March 4 to April 22. The coursework includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid training courses.

Participants can satisfy continuing education requirements with a variety of professional development courses for nurses, administrators, direct-care staff, and other health care professionals. Penn State’s program has been approved by the Department of Public Welfare. Classes will be held in Room 206 of the Main Classroom Building at the York campus.

State regulations include many requirements for personal care homes, including staff training and education. Prior to initial employment as an administrator, a candidate must successfully complete the 100-hour standardized administrator training course approved by the Department of Public Welfare.The PCHA Exam will be administered the week after the class ends, on a Wednesday night or Thursday morning.
