Pavlik selected to receive Donald S. Shondell All-Time Great Coach Award

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State men’s volleyball head coach Mark Pavlik will be presented the Donald S. Shondell All-Time Great Coach Award at USA Volleyball’s Dorothy C. Boyce Recognitions and Awards Banquet in Orlando, Florida, on May 25, 2016.

The 71st Annual Boyce Banquet will take place at the Hyatt Regency Orlando during the USA Volleyball Annual Meetings two days before the start of the USA Volleyball Open National Championships set for May 27-June 1 in Orlando. Ticket information for the Boyce Banquet will be announced early in 2016.

Among this year’s honorees are athletes, coaches, officials and leaders who have all made an impact on the sport and USA Volleyball.

Mark Pavlik has been selected to receive the Donald S. Shondell All-Time Great Coach Award in the contemporary division. Pavlik has recorded over 500 wins in his 21 years leading the Penn State men’s volleyball team, including capturing the 2008 NCAA men’s volleyball national championship.

Other men’s volleyball coaches to win the award include Douglas P. Beal, Donald S. Shondell, Marvin Alex Dunphy and Arie Selinger.

Coaches with Penn State ties to win the award in the past include former Penn State men’s volleyball head coach G. Thomas Tait, current Penn State women’s volleyball head coach Russ Rose, and 1971 Penn State graduate Larry Bock.
