Head Librarian to receive Alumni Achievement Award

Courtney Young, head librarian and professor of women’s studies at Penn State Greater Allegheny, will receive the Simmons College School of Library and Information Science 2016 Alumnae/i Achievement Award. 

“I am so honored to be selected by the Simmons SLIS Alumnae/i Board to receive the 2016 SLIS Alumnae/i Achievement Award” said Young. She served as the 2014-15 President of the American Library Association.

The award is presented annually to a graduate who has demonstrated significant achievement in the library and information profession and who has demonstrated excellence in a way that exceeds the boundaries of their current positions by achieving influence as an outstanding role model for library and information professionals. 

The award will be presented on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at the Simmons Graduate Alumni Reception during the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Boston.
