UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State’s Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Equity (CLGBTE) is calling for papers, presentations and pedagogical panelists from faculty and graduate students. As part of its 25th anniversary celebration, CLGBTE is sponsoring an interdisciplinary academic symposium showcasing current LGBT research and instruction conducted at Penn State by faculty and graduate students from across the University.
Topics of interest are interdisciplinary and range from analyzing LGBT communities from various perspectives, including medical, legal, philosophical, anthropological, and business; political and social narratives; and activism, advocacy and leadership.
The length of individual presentations should not exceed 20 minutes. A title and 300-word summary of the presentation/paper, academic title and affiliation, and a brief personal biography are due to Grant Littke (gbl3@psu.edu) by Monday, Jan. 11, 2016.
Since 1991, CLGBTE has served as an advisory group to the president of Penn State. Its purpose is to improve the climate for diversity within Penn State by addressing issues affecting the welfare of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender members of the University community. The 25th anniversary celebration will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016, at the Hintz Alumni Center on the University Park campus.
