Penn State Athletics joins Giving Tuesday on Dec. 1

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is pleased to announce it will participate in #GivingTuesday, a global day of impact that will be held on Dec. 1.

Created in 2012, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving, fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, which includes holiday and end-of-year giving.

Penn State student-athletes, coaches and staff will spend part of #GivingTuesday by engaging in the community. Fans can share their community service and why they give with other Penn Staters on Twitter by using #WeAreGiving on #PSUGivingTue.

Penn State Athletics is challenging alumni and fans to make a gift to the Levi Lamb Annual Fund or Morgan Academic Center on #GivingTuesday to support creating the best conditions for academic and athletic success for Nittany Lion student-athletes. Those who make a gift of $50 or more on Dec. 1 will receive double the standard amount of Nittany Lion Club points for their contribution; however, gifts must be made at

Levi Lamb Annual Fund
Contributions to the Levi Lamb Annual Fund go directly to awarding scholarships to student-athletes from all 31 varsity sports. Increasing contributions to the annual fund will make it possible to acquire the needed resources for the student-athlete cost of attendance stipends and new nutritional needs. These two areas directly impact Nittany Lion student-athletes. Giving to the annual fund on Giving Tuesday will make a significant difference in student-athlete support.

Morgan Academic Center Project
Supporting the new Morgan Academic Center by way of the Bridge to the Future Fund is an exciting opportunity to invest in a project that will have a sustainable impact on all Penn State student-athletes. The new Morgan Academic Center will create the most student-centered support space possible, which will further ensure Penn State student-athletes are able to succeed academically, athletically, socially and professionally. This facility will be able to accommodate more than 800 student-athletes, as well as integrate all academic support staff and services under one roof.

Penn State alumni and fans are encouraged to give to the Levi Lamb Annual Fund or Morgan Academic Center to support Penn State student-athletes and receive double Nittany Lion Club points by visiting on Dec. 1.

Fans can follow student-athletes, coaches and staff in the community on Penn State Athletics social media and by visiting Penn Staters who donate their time or resources on Dec. 1 are encouraged to use #WeAreGiving on #PSUGivingTue on Twitter.
