The girls’ volleyball team at Elizabethtown High School raised $1,000 for Penn State Hershey Medical Center’s Karen Dwyer-Hones Patient Care Fund at its annual Rally Against Cancer game on Oct. 6. The team and the Big E Booster Club sold T-shirts, hats and volleyball socks leading up to the game and collected money at the concession stand during each October home game. The team has contributed more than $2,700 to the Karen Dwyer-Jones Patient Care Fund since 2014. Dwyer-Jones, who was a clinical research coordinator at Penn State Hershey, lost her fight with breast cancer in 2010 at the age of 43.
