University Health Services achieves AAAHC accreditation

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — University Health Services (UHS) has achieved a three-year accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). This accreditation distinguishes UHS from many other outpatient facilities, citing its dedication to providing the highest quality of care to its patients.

AAAHC accreditation is conducted by an independent, not-for-profit organization, which closely examines the facility and procedures to ensure that nationally recognized standards are met, and that these facilities provide the highest quality of care through nationally recognized standards.

"University Health Services strives to provide the highest quality of care to Penn State students," said Dr. Robin Oliver-Veronesi, senior director of UHS. "The AAAHC certificate of accreditation is a sign that University Health Services at Penn State meets or exceeds nationally-recognized standards.”

Organizations seeking accreditation by AAAHC undergo an extensive self-assessment and on-site survey by AAAHC expert surveyors — physicians, nurses and administrators who are actively involved in ambulatory health care. The survey is consultative and educational, presenting best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.

“The AAAHC Certificate of Accreditation is recognized as a symbol of quality by medical organizations, insurance companies, managed care organizations, and state and federal agencies,” said Oliver-Veronesi. “We are pleased that University Health Services received the AAAHC accreditation and will continue to provide the highest achievable level of care for students in the most efficient manner."
