Joseph Segilia, director of continuing education at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, has been elected mid-Atlantic chair of the Association for Continuing Higher Education (ACHE). The election occurred at the group’s spring conference in South Boston, Virginia.

ACHE, based in Norman, Oklahoma, is an organization of colleges, universities and individuals that promotes excellence in continuing higher education as a means of enhancing and improving society. The mid-Atlantic region encompasses Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

“This is a great opportunity to work with colleagues in the seven-state region, to learn from them, to help them build their programs, and to improve the profession of adult and continuing education,” said Segilia, whose one-year term began June 1.

Segilia will be working with state chairs to identify membership needs, encourage the development of academic programming for adult learners, increase membership development in the mid-Atlantic region, and promote professional development opportunities for ACHE members.
