Eberly College of Science seeking nominations for Climate and Diversity Awards

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Climate and Diversity Committee in the Eberly College of Science at Penn State is seeking nominations for the Dean’s Climate and Diversity Awards. These awards are designed to recognize individuals and programs that have displayed extraordinary commitment to enhancing an environment of mutual respect and diversity in the college of science.

The are awards are intended to highlight undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, staff members and faculty members, as well as groups or programs within the college, that are supportive and welcoming of everyone in the college community. The awards will recognize the success stories and celebrate the leadership and vision of these individuals.

Although nominees must be affiliated with the Eberly College of Science, nominators can be anyone from the larger campus community who has any interaction with the college of science.

The nomination process is simple, consisting only of a simple Web form, and does not require any input from the nominees.  Nominators are welcome to nominate as many groups or individuals as they would like; there is no limit.  Nominators can even nominate themselves. The application and award criteria can be found at http://science.psu.edu/climate/deans-climate-and-diversity-award.

The deadline for nominations is Nov. 16. One winner will be selected in each of three categories: students/postdoctoral fellows, staff and faculty. In addition, all nominees will receive a certificate of appreciation from the dean of the College of Science.

An awards presentation ceremony to honor the winners and nominees will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15, on the bridge in the Life Sciences Building. All nominators are encouraged to attend the ceremony. Everyone in the campus community is welcome to attend.
