Open enrollment set to begin Nov. 2

The University’s annual open enrollment period will take place from Nov. 2 to 20. During this time, faculty and staff who utilize University benefits may update or change their benefit elections for 2016.

The Office of Human Resources has created a new website to help employees determine which benefits best suit their needs. The website, openenrollment.psu.edu, provides a comparison of the PPO Savings Plan and the PPO Blue Plan, the two health care coverage options available through the University, as well as access to decision-making tools to help employees understand all aspects of each option. The site also provides information on other elective insurance benefits, including dental, vision, accidental death and dismemberment, life and long-term disability.

While most insurance options for 2016 will remain the same as the 2015 options, the coverage amount for University-paid, group-term life insurance for regular full-time faculty and staff has increased to $50,000 from $5,000.

To complete your election of benefits for 2016, log in to ESSIC during the open enrollment period. All employees carrying health care, dental, vision or optional life insurance must access ESSIC during open enrollment and provide consent for the 2016 benefit year. Individuals who do not provide consent risk having their benefits discontinued.

The Office of Human Resources will be conducting live informational webinars throughout October and November for employees who have questions about benefit options. To view the schedule and register, visit http://openenrollment.psu.edu/webinar-schedule/.
