Bersano garners second Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honor

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State men’s soccer redshirt-senior Matt Bersano was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 20. The award marks the second of his career at Penn State.

The Tempe, Arizona, native made seven saves against Ohio State Sunday, Sept. 20, en route to a 1-1 double overtime tie in the Nittany Lion’s second conference match of the season. Bersano faced eight shots on goal, giving up his first goal in 195 minutes of action. The tie helped the Blue and White remain atop the conference standings after the second week of Big Ten play.
