Center for the Performing Arts to collect items for Centre County PAWS

Item drive to run Sept. 22 to Oct. 18 at Eisenhower Auditorium

The Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State is teaming with Centre County PAWS to collect new and gently used items to help dogs and cats in need. Items will be accepted Sept. 22 to Oct. 18 at Eisenhower Auditorium on the University Park campus.

Drop off donated items in the Eisenhower lobby when attending these performances: Ragamala Dance Company, Sept. 22; Jazz at Lincoln Center with Wynton Marsalis, Oct. 7; The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, Oct. 13; and “Clifford the Big Red Dog Live!,” Oct. 18. Donations also will be accepted during business hours, weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Recommended donation items include:

For dogs, canned dog and puppy food, Royal Canin dry dog and puppy food, plastic squeaky toys, and large and extra-large Nylabones.

For cats, canned cat and kitten food, Royal Canin dry cat and kitten food, Cat Pill Pockets, scoopable unscented cat litter, cat beds, Stretch & Scratchers, stainless steel litter boxes, Snuggle Safe heat disks, baby wipes and Hartz kitten bottles.

For the shelter, trash bags—13, 33 and 55 gallon sizes; plastic zipper bags—pint and gallon sizes; paper towels; tissues; toilet paper; liquid dishwasher detergent; high-efficiency laundry detergent; liquid bleach; alcohol-based hand sanitizer; liquid hand soap; and white copy paper.

Centre County PAWS, established in 1980, is committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs and to educating the community about responsible pet ownership and animal overpopulation. It is a non-euthanasia, member-supported organization run by volunteers and dedicated to the promotion of animal welfare.

The collection is being conducted in conjunction with the Center for the Performing Arts  presentation of “Clifford the Big Red Dog Live!” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, in Eisenhower. The family-friendly performance emphasizes the timeless values of sharing, playing fair, working together, being respectful, telling the truth and being kind.
