Workshop to focus on applying for student loans

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- "Getting Student Loans," a financial literacy workshop, will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16 in Mann Assembly Room, 103 Paterno Library. No registration is required and food and drink will be provided.

In the workshop, Daad Rizk, Penn State's financial literacy manager, will examine the different kinds of loans available to students, including Federal Perkins loans and direct subsidized loans, and talk about how much money students should borrow. In addition, Rizk will identify the steps to take before borrowing, reveal the relationship between future income and current loan borrowing, and teach students how to forecast a future budget.
