Lou Gattis named faculty director of Smeal MBA Program

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Lou Gattis, clinical professor of finance, has been named the faculty director of the Penn State Smeal MBA Program.

The faculty director is responsible for academic aspects of the program, including curriculum, concentrations, global immersions and more.

“I am looking forward to representing the faculty and helping to lead the program,” Gattis said.

Not only does he plan to oversee the overall academic direction of the program, Gattis plans to be hands-on, too.

“The faculty director’s role is to work closely with MBA students, staff and faculty to advocate academic integrity, continuously improve the curriculum, and promote student academic achievement,” he said. “I will also continue to teach an elective course in financial modeling.”

A long-time faculty member, Gattis joined the Smeal College in 2004 after a 15-year career in corporate finance and investment management. He obtained doctorate and master’s degrees in economics from George Mason University. He earned a master of business administration from George Washington University and a bachelor’s in finance from Penn State.

“I look forward to finding opportunities to improve an already distinguished MBA program to better serve students,” Gattis said.
