Message from the dean: Welcome to Connections

Welcome to the newly redesigned Connections, the College of Education’s pipeline for sharing information with and about our faculty, staff and students.

Historically, Connections has been distributed roughly once per semester. With so much happening in the college, that schedule led to issues of Connections being overly long and difficult to digest. In addition, there was considerable overlap in content with Bridges, which also is sent to our faculty, staff and students.

Starting today, we are partnering with the University’s Strategic Communications office to bring you a completely new Connections that will be delivered more frequently and in a format that will be shorter and more user-friendly.

Connections will arrive in your email about once every other week, and will include:

— College profile: short profiles designed to help you see at a glance what services are available in the college and who provides them.

— College initiatives: short stories about college and university initiatives and their impacts on those who work and study in the college.

— HR Corner: a regular feature to share human resources information with faculty and staff.

— Dean’s Message: a feature that will appear periodically as a way for me to share my thoughts on various topics with our college community.

— Around the College: information about faculty, staff and students who have had articles published, presented papers at conferences, won awards or grants or have other scholarly achievements or work milestones to celebrate, as well as information about appointments and partings in the college. Send your news to edrelations@psu.edu and include "Around the College" in the subject line.

— Glad You Asked: A regular feature that will answer questions posed by members of the college community on topics of interest. Questions should be sent to edrelations@psu.edu and include "Glad You Asked" in the subject line.

We hope you enjoy reading, and contributing to, the new Connections. We want to hear from you. Send your suggestions and feedback to edrelations@psu.edu and include Connections in the subject line.
