UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Adding to the discussion on bilingualism in the United States, the Penn State Center for Language Science (CLS) is hosting a showing of the documentary “Speaking in Tongues,” with a panel discussion to follow. At a time when 31 states have passed “English-only” laws, the documentary follows four families who have put their children in public schools where classes are taught primarily in Spanish or Chinese.

The award-winning film will be shown from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, in 127 Moore Building as part of the CLS Forum. Speakers on the discussion panel include Chris Champi, Elisabet Polanco, Christian Navarro-Torres, Carla Fernandez, and Isabel Deibel.
