Meeting set for Native American/American Indian faculty, staff and students

August 27, 2015

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Native American/American Indian faculty, staff and students are invited to attend a meet-and-greet session at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, in the second floor lobby of Carnegie Building on Penn State's University Park campus.

John Sanchez, a member of the Nde Apache Nation and an associate professor in the College of Communications, said the purpose of the meeting is to find and connect with other American Indians who are a part of the Penn State family. The American Indian powwow at Penn State will be discussed as well.

Native American/American Indians make up less than 1 percent of all people at Penn State and Sanchez believes that the scheduled meeting is only the second time in his almost 20 years at the University that such an event has been scheduled. Light refreshments will be served and the meeting will end at 8 p.m.

Sanchez can be reached at apache@psu.edu.
