UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Controlled burns are scheduled for today (May 20) as part of a prairie restoration project at the Arboretum on Penn State's University Park campus.
The burns will cover nearly 7 acres south of the rail trail and will take place between noon and 4 p.m., weather permitting. The Alpha Fire Company of State College will be on site.
The project is being led by The Nature Conservancy, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people.
