Penn State Pittsburgh has formed a team to participate in the Race for the Cure in Pittsburgh on Sunday, May 10.
Instructor in Psychology Neha Pandit formed the team. She said, “Most of us have had our lives touched by cancer in some way, and many of us have had friends or loved ones that have had breast cancer. My cousin, Jennifer, was 31 years old, found out she had stage 3B breast cancer and that she was pregnant within a very short period of time. She now has a beautiful, healthy energetic 5-year-old daughter. Jennifer is one of the strongest women I have ever known, and she is fighting her cancer every day.”
You can participate either through donating, walking, running or cheering others on. All proceeds benefit the Komen Race for the Cure Pittsburgh. Registering for the Race or donating are tax-deductible and support local breast cancer education, screening, and treatment in the community.
To register for the race or donate as part of the Penn State Pittsburgh & Friends for Pink team, visit the Komen Race for the Cure Pittsburgh website. Search for the team "Penn State Pittsburgh & Friends for Pink." From there you will be able to either register for the team or donate. Pandit wants to encourage people to take part in any way they can. “I have participated in the Race for the Cure five times, in two different countries, and can honestly say it’s an amazing experience. I hope to see you all on May 10,” she said.
