Lithuanian ambassador to visit Penn State Schuylkill

Penn State Schuylkill announced that Pennsylvania Congressman Matt Cartwright (District 17) will visit campus April 27 along with Lithuanian Ambassador Žygimantas Pavilionis just prior to his return to Lithuania.

Upon his arrival, University leadership will host a reception in the ambassador’s honor with Cartwright and Penn State Schuylkill faculty and honor students.

Following the reception, at 7 p.m. in the John E. Morgan Auditorium, Cartwright will host a free and public lecture by the ambassador that will cover current affairs and issues in Lithuania as well as any other items of particular interest to Lithuanian-Americans. The ambassador may take questions from the audience

Pavilionis was born in 1971 in Vilnius, Lithuania. He graduated in 1994 from the Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University, and then went on to earn a master of philosophy degree and a doctorate from the same institution.

In 2003, he was awarded Cross of the Knight of the Order for Merits to Lithuania by the president of Lithuania. Lithuanian is his native language and he also speaks English, French, Italian and Russian.
