UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Office for Summer Session is now accepting applications for summer 2018 LEAP mentor positions. LEAP mentors are an integral piece of the Learning Edge Academic Program (LEAP), a summer transition program for incoming first-year students.

The transition to Penn State can be overwhelming. LEAP mentors help ease that transition for first-year students and help them get started in a small, supportive environment. They serve as role models and connect students to resources and opportunities in the Penn State and State College communities. It is a rewarding position for students looking to gain leadership experience and those looking to help incoming Penn State students acclimate to the University.

To apply to be a LEAP mentor, you must attend an information session. Information sessions will be held on the following dates:

  • Thursday, Oct. 5: 4:30 p.m., 104 Thomas Building
  • Monday, Oct. 16: 6:30 p.m., 103 Thomas Building
  • Wednesday, Nov. 15: 6 p.m., 201 Thomas Building
  • Tuesday, Nov. 28: 5 p.m., 104 Thomas Building
  • Monday, Dec. 4: 7 p.m., 104 Thomas Building

To apply, visit psu.jobs (job #74611; keyword “LEAP”). The deadline to apply is Dec. 8. For more information, visit summersession.psu.edu/leap/be-a-mentor or email leap@psu.edu.

The Office for Summer Session is part of Penn State Undergraduate Education, the academic administrative unit that provides leadership and coordination for University-wide programs and initiatives in support of undergraduate teaching and learning at Penn State.
