Penn State Hershey to observe National Walking Day on April 1

March 18, 2015

Penn State Hershey Heart and Vascular Institute and the American Heart Association will team up to celebrate National Walking Day on Wednesday, April 1. This is a day of challenge to get heart healthy and fit.

Plans for the day include:

  • A special exhibit display between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. throughout the main hospital. Exhibits will include information on keeping motivated to walk, incorporating herbs into a diet to avoid salt, and being active at a desk. Cardiac rehab patients will also be on hand to share their stories and the benefits of walking.
  • Laps on the “Crescent Walking Loop for 30 minutes.” Walkers can either walk alone or join a formal walking group at 11:30 a.m. in the north lobby. Those who can’t be at the main campus are invited to walk with a colleague outside that day.
  • Free blood pressure and lower leg blood pressure screenings.
  • Free raffle and refreshments.
