Student humanitarian to deliver upcoming Research Unplugged talk

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Neha Gupta, a first-year student in the Schreyer Honors College will present “Young Humanitarian: The Inspiring Story Behind the Empower Orphans Foundation” at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, in Schlow Centre Region Library.

The Research Unplugged series, now in its 11th year, brings together Penn State researchers and the State College community for lively public discussions.

Gupta will describe the humanitarian work she began at age 9 to help thousands of vulnerable children in India and the United States. In November, Gupta was awarded the International Children’s Peace Prize by former archbishop and Nobel Peace Prize winner Desmond Tutu. Her talk will explore the growth of the Empower Orphans organization and what she learned along the way about the power of one person to make a difference.

Research Unplugged events are free and open to the public. A question-and-answer session is part of the program.

The Research Unplugged series is made possible with the support of Penn State and Schlow Centre Region Library. For additional information, contact series coordinator Melissa Beattie Moss at 814-865-2614 or mbmoss@psu.edu.
