“Today we’re on the threshold of dramatic changes that, if we address and identify correctly, will enable us to make forecasts even more accurately, more localized, more relevant as we go into the future. This will enable people to better utilize and benefit from weather information, adding to the value of information of what we provide, saving lives, protecting property, improving the health of the economy and the health and welfare of people and their quality of life.”

“When I look at where we were 12 years ago, and where we are today, amazing progress has been made. We’re a more collegial and understanding group than ever before. This bodes well for the future of the [weather] enterprise, and for the contributions we can make to the progress in meteorology….We will need that cooperation and collegial attitude to face the tremendous changes that are coming.”
