No. 5 wrestling hosts No. 1 Iowa Sunday in sold-out Jordan Center dual

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The fifth-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions (10-2, 6-2 B1G) return to Happy Valley for the 2015 edition of the BJC Dual. Penn State hosts top-ranked Iowa (*11-0, 6-0) in the Bryce Jordan Center on Sunday, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m. The event in the near-16K seat venue is sold out (*Iowa is at Maryland on Friday, Feb. 6, post-press).

The Nittany Lions are coming off a successful two dual road swing through the state of Michigan. Penn State grabbed a hard-fought 19-15 win at No. 15 Michigan on Friday, Jan. 30, before cruising to a 35-0 shut-out win at Michigan State on Sunday, Feb. 1.

Penn State features eight ranked wrestlers in a young line-up that includes three freshmen (or four) and three sophomores. Junior Jordan Conaway is ranked No. 8 at 125 with a 19-3 record while sophomore Jimmy Gulibon is No. 7 at 133 and 17-4 overall. Red-shirt freshman Kade Moss carries a 17-11 record with him into this weekend's dual with the Hawkeyes. Sophomore Zack Beitz is ranked No. 18 at 149 with a 13-6 record and senior Dylan Alton is No. 8 at 157 with an 8-3 mark. Also seeing action at 157 this past weekend was junior Luke Frey, who is 11-4, and red-shirt freshman Cody Law, who is 13-7.

Red-shirt freshman Garett Hammond is 19-8 at 165 while senior All-American Matt Brown is 19-2 and ranked No. 3 at 174. Red-shirt freshman Matt McCutcheon is 20-9 overall and ranked No. 17 at 184 while junior All-American Morgan McIntosh is 20-2 and ranked No. 4 at 197. Senior Jimmy Lawson is 11-0 at 285 and ranked No. 6 while classmate Jon Gingrich is 13-2 overall as well.

No. 1 Iowa comes in after an impressive 23-12 win at Minnesota last Sunday. The unbeaten Hawkeyes reature a ranked wrestler at every weight, with all but one residing in the top ten. Thomas Gilman is 20-1 and ranked No. 5 at 125 and Cory Clark is 16-3 and No. 3 at 133. Senior Josh Dziewa is 18-5 and No. 6 at 141 while Brandon Sorensen is 25-2 and No. 2 at 149. Michael Kelly is 17-4 overall and No. 14 at 157 while Nick Moore is 15-4 and No. 7 at 165. Mike Evans sports a perfect 19-0 record at 174 and is ranked No. 2 while Sammy Brooks is 19-2 and No. 8 at 184. Nathan Burak is 13-1 and ranked No. 6 at 197 while Bobby Telford is 19-1 and No. 2 at 285.

Iowa leads the all-time series with Penn State 26-8-2. The Nittany Lions won last year's dual, a non-conference battle in Iowa City, 24-12. Penn State also won the last meeting in Happy Valley, a 22-12 victory on Jan. 29, 2012, in Rec Hall. Iowa's last victory in the series was a 22-16 win on Feb. 1, 2013, in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The Nittany Lions head west to take on #9 Oklahoma State in Stillwater on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 3 p.m. (Eastern).
