Lehigh Valley student-athletes, coach recognized for achievement

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Penn State Lehigh Valley student athletes that participated in the fall 2014 season demonstrated success not just in their sport, but also in the classroom. Eighteen out of the campus’ total of 26 fall athletes received Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Academic All-Conference status. Additionally, Golf Head Coach Brian Exton, a geology instructor at the campus, was named PSUAC Golf Coach of the Year.

Students must achieve an individual GPA of 3.0 or higher to receive this recognition. The campus’ cross country, volleyball and golf teams had a combined average GPA of 3.13.

Exton and his nine-member men’s golf team had a remarkably successful season that culminated in winning the PSUAC championship and three students named to the All-Conference team.

Volleyball:  Allora Atiyeh, Sirenna Saleet, Ashley Husser, Andrea Watkins, Natasha Leon and Elizabeth Perez  

Golf: Nate Bloomfield, Tyler Carpenter, James Burgess, Paul Hetrick, Tyler Schoener, Michael Szklanny and Chad Heidecker

Cross Country: Tanner Holland, Jacob Srock, Alexandro Vega, Chris Bukavich and Ashley Ramiriz
