Legro elected as secretary/treasurer to Endocrine Society Governing Council

Dr. Richard Legro, professor of obstetrics and gynecology and public health sciences, has been named secretary/treasurer elect for one year and then will serve a full three-year term for the Endocrine Society Governing Board. The society is the world’s oldest, largest and most active organization devoted to research on hormones and the clinical practice of endocrinology.

Legro has been an active society member for nearly 17 years. He serves on the Finance and Audit Committee and previously served on the Research Affairs Core Committee. He also has served on the editorial boards for The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism and Endocrine Reviews. He has served as president of the Androgen Excess-PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) Society and on the American Society of Reproductive Medicine’s Board of Directors. His honors include being named a Longjiang Scholar, a chair professorship at Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine in Harbin, China, and being selected by the Chinese government for its 1,000 Talents Program. He received his medical degree from Mount Sinai Medical School.
