The annual Gift Drive for Beaver County Children and Youth Services (CYS) broke its record this year by collecting presents for 169 children who are CYS clients.
The Gift Drive is conducted by the Beaver Valley Area Alumni Chapter, the CYS Gift Drive Committee and Beaver County CYS. Last year, gifts were collected for a record 159 children. The Alumni Chapter works with the CYS Holiday Gift Drive Committee, which is comprised of Penn State alumni who, in turn, coordinate the project with CYS administrators. CYS staff members distribute the gifts to families in time for the holidays. Gift drive donors have the option of buying and wrapping a present(s) for one or more children or making a cash donation, which allows committee members to purchase gifts for children.
A gift drop-off was held at Penn State Beaver on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 12 and 13. The 2014 CYS Gift Drive Committee members were Penn State alumni Diane Canning, Jessica Doris, Cindy Hovanec, Roseann Simoni and Cheryl Yevak.
