December 11, 2014

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- A gallery talk at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, by Kidd Collection archivist Alyssa Carver will discuss “Everything Not Made by Nature Is Design,” an exhibition from the Chip Kidd Archives. She also will share some of the challenges involved with organizing and preserving this analog and digital archive. The exhibition, which is on display through April 24, and the talk are in The Eberly Family Collections Library, 104 Paterno Library.

The Chip Kidd Archives feature this award-winning graphic designer and Penn State Distinguished Alumnus, who graduated in 1986. Kidd has worked at the publishing house Alfred A. Knopf since 1986 and has designed more than 1,000 book covers, including the iconic cover of “Jurassic Park” for Michael Crichton. Kidd is the recipient of numerous awards, notably the Cooper-Hewitt Smithsonian Museum National Design Award, in 2007, and the American Institute of Graphic Arts Medal for lifetime achievement in 2014.
