UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Mary Beth Rosson, the interim dean of Penn State's College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST), will serve as the keynote speaker at the Graduate School’s fall commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 4:30 p.m. in the Bryce Jordan Center.

Formerly the associate dean for undergraduate studies, Rossom assumed the interim dean role following the June departure of David Hall. She continues as a professor in the College of IST and she is an affiliate professor of instructional systems in the College of Education. Her research themes include interactive tools for software design and construction, tools for informal and collaborative learning, and scenario-based design and evaluation methods.

Rossom is a member of the End Users Shaping Effective Software (EUSES) Forum and the CHI Academy, and also is an Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Distinguished Scientist.

Commencement exercises for Penn State graduate students are held three times a year: at the end of the fall and spring semesters and at the end of the summer session. Information for advanced degree candidates is provided on the University's commencement website.
