Atnip named president-elect of Alpha Omega Alpha

Penn State Hershey Heart and Vascular Institute’s Dr. Robert Atnip was chosen by the Alpha Omega Alpha Board of Directors as the president-elect for the coming year.

Alpha Omega Alpha is the national honor society for medical students, residents and physicians. Atnip (Alpha Omega Alpha, University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, 1976) has served on the board since 2006, first as a councilor director and now as a member at large. He has been the councilor at the Eta, Pennsylvania Chapter at the College of Medicine since 2002.

Atnip is ABS certified in surgery, vascular surgery and surgical critical care. His specialty is vascular surgery, vascular ultrasound, wound care and hyperbaric medicine.

Alpha Omega Alpha sponsors many programs to recognize and promote the ideals of excellence, service, leadership, gifted teaching and professionalism in the field of medicine. It was founded in 1902 and has over 120 chapters in the United States. Election to Alpha Omega Alpha is the highest academic honor that a medical student can receive.
