David M. Rosenberg, Penn State alumnus, founder of the David and Marjorie Rosenberg Foundation and friend of Penn State Brandywine, will be the speaker at Penn State Brandywine’s December commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, in the Commons Building Gymnasium on campus.
Rosenberg attended Penn State at University Park and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in health and human development. He also attended the Howard University School of Law and received his juris doctor degree.
In 2012, he and his wife, Marjorie Rosenberg, made the Penn State Brandywine Laboratory for Civic and Community Engagement possible by making a generous donation. The lab encourages leadership among students and develops scholarship in the community while promoting citizenship on a local-to-global level. Brandywine designates at least one course each fall and spring semester as a Rosenberg Civic Engagement Course to honor and recognize the significant contribution of the Rosenbergs. These courses go above and beyond a standard campus civic engagement offering and are designed to challenge students to the highest levels, aligning with the Laboratory for Civic and Community Engagement’s mission of citizenship, scholarship and leadership.
The Rosenbergs also founded the David and Marjorie Rosenberg Trustee Scholarship and the Rosenberg Family Trustee Scholarship for students enrolled at Penn State Brandywine.
David Rosenberg and his wife are the founders of the David and Marjorie Rosenberg Foundation, a civic and social organization assisting a wide variety of non-profits with the primary focus in the areas of character development and children and youth. Rosenberg also serves on many regional organizations, including the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Institutional Advancement Committee and the Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s Board of Directors. The Penn State Brandywine Advisory Board has also recommended the appointment of Rosenberg to Brandywine’s board.
Rosenberg is the former principal at Marsh Creek Corporate Services, an entrepreneurial company, and former principal and executive vice president at Environmental Compliance Services, Inc., an international provider of environmental risk management services.
Rosenberg and his family reside in Villanova.
Penn State Brandywine students receiving their diplomas in December will join the largest dues-paying alumni association in the world that consists of more than 174,000 members.
