Penn State Shenango's Occupational Therapy freshmen and sophomore students were out helping in the community as they participated in this year's OT Global Day of Service.Students volunteered at the Prince of Peace Center in Farrell, the Salvation Army in Sharon, the Mercer County Community Food Warehouse in Sharon, and the Hermitage School District. Each year the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) celebrates World OT Day on Oct. 27. As a means to promote OT, WFOT yearly sponsors the OT Global Day of Service to coincide with this event."As a way to demonstrate leadership skills, each OT sophomore student was assigned to a group," said Marge Pendzick, Penn State Shenango OTA program director. "Each group designed and carried out a service project for this event. The freshmen students really enjoyed working with our sophomores. Our plans are to participate next year making this an annual activity."For more information on Penn State Shenango's OT program, contact Marge Pendzick at 724-983-2973.
