UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Junior midfielder and architectural engineering major Kyle MacDonald (Yardley, Pa.) was named to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 Team Thursday (Oct. 30) afternoon. MacDonald is now eligible for Academic All-America honors this year.

MacDonald, one of Penn State's central midfielders, has played in all 15 games this year, logging 887 minutes in 13 starts. MacDonald's greatest contribution this season came with a game-winning goal Sept. 21 over Ohio State, his second career tally. MacDonald has four points on the season on a goal and two assists to go along with nine shots.

MacDonald holds a 3.83 cumulative grade-point average, while majoring in architectural engineering. MacDonald is a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honoree and a member of the 2012 and 2013 Academic All-Big Ten Teams.

The Academic All-District honor is the first for MacDonald, who became the first Nittany Lion named to the team since 2010 (Andy Parr, Drew Cost, Andres Casais).

Academic All-America selections are announced in mid-November.
