Five from women's tennis ready for ITA Regionals

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Five Penn State players head to Virginia Tech this weekend to compete in the ITA Regionals in Blacksburg, Va. The tournament begins Friday (Oct. 17) and runs through Tuesday (Oct. 21) at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

Individuals from 22 other schools will be competing, including: Virginia, Maryland, James Madison, Richmond, William and Mary, Pittsburgh, Georgetown, Liberty, VCU, Radford, Temple, UMBC, Navy, Old Dominion, George Washington, St. Joseph's, Longwood, Duquesne, Delaware, Marshall, Norfolk State and Virginia Tech.

In the first round of the singles tournament, Katia Bilk (Moscow, Russia) battles Teodora Radosavjevic of George Washington while Devan McCluskey (Phoenix, Ariz.) plays Virginia's Maci Epstein. The 12th seeded Victoria Kisialeva (Toronto, Canada) faces the winner of a qualifer. One of the qualifying matches Friday morning features Taylor Shukow (Boca Raton, Fla.) taking on Evagiline Crist of Liberty. Penn State also has one doubles team participating as the duo of Shukow and Katherine Whiteaway (Sawbridgeworth) await the winner of a qualifying match.

The tournament begins Friday with a qualifying round of singles beginning at 9 a.m. The first round of both singles and doubles matches begin Saturday.
