University Police alerted to anonymous threat

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Police have been alerted to an anonymous threat posted at 10:29 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, on social media platform Yik Yak indicating the poster would perpetrate a possible shooting at the HUB at noon on Monday, Oct. 13.

Police, who were alerted today (Oct. 12) to the threatening post by students who had seen it, are attempting to verify the credibility of the threat on this location-based online platform, which allows anonymous postings from those in the region.

As a precautionary measure, a University police presence will be stationed at the HUB on Monday. Police continue to investigate the matter and are asking that anyone with information about this posting or its author to call 814-863-1111.
