Greater Allegheny's All That's Jazz Student Scholarship Benefit set for Nov. 8

Penn State Greater Allegheny will celebrate the 11th annual All That’s Jazz Scholarship Benefit on Nov. 8 in the Student Community Center on campus. Nearly $730,000 has been raised for scholarships in the past 10 years through All That’s Jazz.

The event includes a performance of "Broadway’s Next H!t Musical," New York City’s original, award-winning improvised musical comedy. According to its website, "Broadway’s Next H!T Musical" is the only unscripted theatrical awards show. Master improvisers gather made up, hit song suggestions from the audience and create a spontaneous evening of music, humor and laughter. The audience votes for its favorite song and watches as the cast turns it into a full-blown improvised musical -- complete with memorable characters, witty dialogue and plot twists galore. "BNHM" has been seen recently at The Triad, Tribeca Film Festival and at the New York Musical Theater Festival. The All That’s Jazz Committee is planning an exciting evening. The most important aspects of the evening are the auctions, which are the primary fundraisers for the scholarship fund. The auctions will include a silent auction featuring spectacular gifts and certificates, and the popular Blue and White “mystery” auction with surprises in every box. Auction items will include an authentic Tiffany & Co. bracelet, a week’s stay in Costa Rica; a night at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort; Pittsburgh Steelers tickets; a subscription to the City Theatre; and original artwork.“I’d like to thank our sponsors for their generosity and encourage the public to attend this exciting event. I look forward to seeing the community come together to support our students, many of whom would not be able to afford a quality Penn State education without the support from All That’s Jazz,” said Interim Chancellor Nancy L. Herron.

All That’s Jazz sponsors (as of Oct. 7) are Nancy Seifert, Desmone Architects, Excela Health, HDH Group, Jendoco Construction Corp., Oliver Natural Resources, the Penn State Greater Allegheny Alumni Society, RDM, Specialty Steel Products, UPMC McKeesport and Westinghouse.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Penn State Greater Allegheny Student Community Center, 4000 University Drive, McKeesport. The public is invited to join in the festivities to help support student scholarships. Tickets are $125 each.Information on tickets and sponsorship opportunities can be obtained by calling 412-675-9180.
