UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State men's hockey team will host Hockey Valley Rally at 9 p.m. Wednesday night at Pegula Ice Arena in preparation for the 2014-15 season-opening series against Connecticut.

The free event will begin at 9 p.m. with appearances by head coach Guy Gadowsky and members of the team. On hand for the festivities will be the Penn State Hockey Band, cheerleaders, The Nittany Lion.

Gate B, located near Shields Building, will be available to attendees on Wednesday night, with seating available in the student section. Those in attendance will also have the chance to win prizes and partake in the various cheers and chants that have made Pegula Ice Arena an intimidating place to play for opposing teams.

Penn State hosts Connecticut Friday night at 7 p.m. in the teams' season opener. The Nittany Lions advanced to the Big Ten Semifinals last season and return 99 percent of their offense.
