Lehigh Valley women's volleyball improves to 4-0 with recent wins

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Penn State Lehigh Valley women's volleyball team remains undefeated after wins over Penn State Wilkes-Barre (3-1) and Penn State Hazleton (3-0).

On Sept. 16, during their first-ever home game held at Cedar Crest College, Lehigh Valley had their hands full in all four sets as visiting Wilkes-Barre refused to let down. Lehigh Valley won set one 25-20. Set two needed a total of 68 combined points to determine the winner with Wilkes-Barre taking the 34-32 set victory. Lehigh Valley would respond, outlasting their opponent in set three, 25-23, and set four, 25-21, to record their third straight PSUAC victory.

Freshman Allora Atiyeh was stellar for Lehigh Valley recording a game-high 11 kills. Freshman Alicia Huber had a game-high 28 assists, and junior Shelley Rosario chipped in with 13 digs.

On Sept. 21, the team had a 3-0 match victory over visiting Penn State Hazleton. Lehigh Valley set the tone for the match from the start, winning set one 25-8. They continued their dominance with set victories in two, 25-16, and three, 25-6.  

Lehigh Valley was led by freshman Allora Atiyeh with a game-high 10 kills, 12 assists, nine serving points and seven digs. Freshman Anna Tale, coming off an injury and appearing in her second match this season, contributed with a game-high 11 serving points, nine digs, and seven kills. Freshman Alicia Huber had a productive day Lehigh Valley as she recorded 12 assists, eight serving points, five kills, and five digs. Freshman Sirena Saleet recorded a game-high 11 digs for.

Lehigh Valley will return to action Wednesday, Sept. 24, hosting Penn State Scranton at 7 p.m. at Cedar Crest College.
