UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Photographer David Teplica, who earned a bachelor of philosophy degree from Penn State in 1981, will present a lecture titled "Observations from the Art/Science Interface," at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, in the Palmer Museum of Art's Palmer Lipcon Auditorium. Teplica also has a master of fine arts degree as well as a doctor of medicine degree.

Teplica will discuss the myriad connections between his medical training and his ongoing photographic investigations of the body, which have jointly propelled a more sophisticated understanding of the genetic underpinnings of human anatomy and fueled his contention that creative imagery is often highly functional in a broader social context. He currently maintains a thriving plastic surgery practice and fine art career in addition to serving on the clinical faculty in the section of plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Chicago and as senior research fellow at The Kinsey Institute.

Co-sponsored by the museum and the Penn State School of Visual Arts John M. Anderson Endowed Lecture Series.
