Program offers free tickets to military for Temple game

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – While there are several events planned to honor our nation's military at Penn State, the centerpiece Military Appreciation event is the Military Appreciation Day football game vs. Temple on Saturday, Nov. 15.

Through the Seats for Soldiers program, active-duty and reserve service members, Wounded Warriors, their direct dependents, Gold Star/Fallen Families and veterans are eligible to receive free tickets to the game.

In addition, with the help of volunteers and cooperate donors a Military Appreciation Day tailgate will be held for military personnel and their guests, beginning three hours before kickoff at Pegula Ice Arena.

Current active and reserve service members may request a game ticket for themselves and up to three additional tickets for direct dependents (four tickets total). Single active and reserve service members are eligible to receive one additional ticket for a guest at no cost. All requests for tickets for service members and veterans will be coordinated through the Joint Services Support website under events.

Ticket requests will be reviewed for eligibility and confirmed on a first requested, first confirmed basis. Military ID card, VA Card, or DD214 may be needed for verification when picking up tickets. Those needing assistance registering should contact the State Family Program Office at 717-861-2650 or the proper point-of-contact listed below.

Wounded Warriors with specific physical accommodation requests: ticket registration will be handled by Corrie Wadel, the Pennsylvania National Guard Family Assistant Center specialist coordinator, who can be reached at 717-821-4717 or corrina.d.wadel.ctr@mail.mil.

Gold Star and Fallen Service Members Family requests for ticket registration are being handled by Martin Rafalko, Pennsylvania National Guard Survivor Outreach specialist, who can be reached at 717-224-5073 or martin.t.rafalko.ctr@mail.mil.

Veterans may request a game ticket and up to three additional tickets for direct dependents (four total tickets per family). Additional information will be required in order to verify eligibility. Requests can be made by contacting Kathleen Williams, Pennsylvania National Guard FRSA, at 610-821-6171 or kathleen.williams41.ctr@mail.mil.

Tickets will be available at a reduced price for non-dependents by contacting the Penn State Athletic Department at 814-867-2546.
