Penn State York invites movie lovers to the lower parking lot area of the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 19, when that area is being turned into a drive-In theater.  “Maleficent,” a family-friendly movie, is first, followed by a college-friendly movie, “22 Jump Street.” Parking will begin at 6:30 p.m. In case of rain, the movies will be shown in the gym of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center. The event, sponsored by Penn State York’s University Programming Board (UPB), is free and open to the public. Free popcorn will be available while supplies last. For those only interested in attending ”Maleficent,” there will be an intermission between movies; “22 Jump Street” is scheduled to begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.The production company showing the movies will have its own tuner system, so those who would like to stay in their vehicles and listen to the movie, as per a traditional drive-in, can do so.  There is also a spot set up in front of the parking lot for those attendees who want to relax outside of their car and watch the movies.  Please bring a chair.

Cars filled the parking last spring when Penn State York offered a drive-in movie experience.  Some moviegoers stayed in their vehicles while others brought along a chair and sat outside to enjoy the shows.  The event is sponsored by the Penn State York University Programming Board. Credit: Barbara Dennis / Penn StateCreative Commons
