Ventura honored with EMS Alumni Achievement Award

In its tradition of honoring high-achieving alumni, the Penn State College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) has selected Jeffrey L. Ventura, president and CEO of Range Resources Corporation as the recipient of the 2014 GEMS Alumni Achievement Award. Ventura will be recognized at a reception and awards ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 10. The reception will be held in the EMS Museum located on the ground floor of the Deike Building. Reception is free and open to the public.

The GEMS Alumni Achievement Award is given annually by the EMS Alumni Society, GEMS (Graduates of Earth and Mineral Sciences), to recognize outstanding achievement by EMS alumni. All alumni of EMS are eligible to receive this award.

Ventura joined Range Resources Corporation in 2003 and became a director in 2005. Ventura was named CEO effective Jan. 1, 2012. Previously, Ventura served as president and chief operating officer (COO) of Matador Petroleum Corporation which he joined in 1997. Prior to his service at Matador, Ventura spent eight years at Maxus Energy Corporation where he managed various engineering, exploration and development operations and was responsible for coordination of engineering technology. Before joining Maxus, Ventura was with Tenneco Oil Exploration and Production, where he held various engineering and operating positions. Ventura earned a bachelor’s degree in petroleum and natural gas engineering from Penn State.
