Student parking registration begins Aug. 18, 19

General registration is exclusively online

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Student parking registration for fall 2014 and spring 2015 will be available exclusively online at www.parking.psu.edu beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, for off-campus students and at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, for on-campus students.

General student parking registration is no longer available at the Penn State Parking Office. However, students eligible for upgrades to a base student permit, such as graduate assistants, student athletes and those with a state-issued ADA placard, must visit the Parking Office to obtain their upgraded permit. Registration for a base student permit must be completed online prior to applying for any upgrades. In addition, students registering for motorcycle, short-term or one-day permits must also register at the Parking Office.

To register for a permit, students need an active Penn State ID and Access account, as well as the license plate information for any vehicles they wish to register with their permit. Vehicles must be owned by the student or a member of the student’s immediate family to be registered with a student permit. With the exception of commuters and graduate students, students must have completed at least 28 credits to be eligible for parking.

Upon completion of the registration, students will have access to a printable temporary permit that can be displayed on their dashboard to allow for immediate parking in the assigned lot. Students will be able to return to their account at a later time to print the permit if they do not have access to a printer when completing their registration.

Permits will be mailed to the local or campus address of each student. To ensure prompt and accurate delivery, students must enter their complete address, including the street number and apartment number, if applicable. In addition, students moving into new off-campus residences with State College addresses for the fall semester must notify the post office in State College of their new addresses before registering for a student parking permit, as failure to do so may result in the permit being undeliverable.

Once the permanent permit has been delivered, the printable temporary permit must be discarded and the permanent permit displayed on the rearview mirror of the vehicle.
